Work Hours
Ainsworth Heritage believes that excessive work erodes quality of life, personal relationships and staff performance, and as such, will always have an open working plan for each staff member that will be flexible as required by circumstance.
Ainsworth Heritage’s standard full time working week is 38 hours with a maximum of 42 hours only when absolutely necessary. This schedule is rigorously enforced for both staff and management. Ainsworth Heritage intends for work to stay at work and will never require or encourage, and will frown upon, staff and management taking work home to work on in the evenings or on days off.
Staff Leave
Each staff member will receive 6 weeks paid leave each year (pro-rata for part-time staff). To ensure all staff are gaining regular breaks, leave will have a maximum accrual of 3 weeks leave. We will also always consider requests for unpaid leave for involvement in long-term research projects or archaeological digs, secondments, internships etc.
Ainsworth Heritage also offers paid maternity/paternity and parental leave. All staff members who have been employed for a minimum of 12 months are entitled to 12 weeks full-time [pro-rata for part-time staff] paid leave for the primary care giver. We also offer 2 weeks paid leave at the time of the birth of the child for the non-primary care giver.
If any staff member is undertaking approved study within their professional field, time off for exams will be paid for (1 day per exam) in recognition of the importance of their study. We can also accommodate extended study leave or flexible work hours to assist those who are working and studying simultaneously.
Research

Bits and Pieces: World War II beer bottles, Australian pennies, Colonial era bricks and early tweniteth century bottles
Ainsworth Heritage is a believer that personal development within our industry comes through the continued desire of an individual to pursue their own niche fields of interest and having the environment in which this can be undertaken. To enable staff members and management to fulfil their personal research development, Ainsworth Heritage provides each fulltime staff member with 4 paid hours per week of time to develop their personal interests, with part-time staff members receive an equivalent amount of time. This research time is undertaken during work hours each week – usually on a Friday afternoon before knock-off drinks!
